If you know me well enough, I hardly ever sew outside my comfort zone. I am somewhat conservative when it comes to matching fabrics hence, my fabric combos are somewhat boring really!
And if I am familiar with a certain pattern, then I just stick to it. And this is no way good for me coz room for improvement is truly stunted and well, I need to move upwards and not just stay stagnant and happy where I am. Geez, makes me sound as if I was having some crisis at work! But no, I’m talking about where I am, where sewing is concerned. A good example is my recent Raibow leggings. I normally wouldnt even THINK of matching fabric up like this but I was inspired and we all know that only kids can pull off such a garment in public anyway!
*Hope KR doesn’t disown me when she looks back on this 20 years from now!*
Anyway, in my efforts to move forward, I tackled another new pattern to me, one from SCKL – Imke. This pattern is quite easy and has o so many variations to choose from that it took me AGES to decide on what to pick!! >.<

Because this is my first attempt, I used some scrap fabrics and this really soft ribknit that I got from the Op shop. I think it turned out ok.
I took note of a couple of things that I need to do next time. And one of it is to trim and neated the lining before sewing it on. Perhaps others know about this but I learned this through my own mistake. And while is generally is ok, only I know whats wrong so that bugging the heck out of me!

Decided to add some trims to it – had a hard time parting with this pretty ribbon but thought to myself, my ribbon collection is breeding – I NEED TO USE THEM UP!! So I did.
Verdict : 2 thumbs up and an order for another one.
The hood was the selling point so I’ll try this again and this time I think I’ll go the straight sleeves with hood and minus the additional short sleeve. According to Arianna, ‘I NEED to wear this to school’.
