More Tangerine tops

I finally found the time to blog about some of the stuff that I brought along with me. I fell in love with the Tangerine tops (which I sewed recently) and I wanted to sew more for the girls coz I just love the pattern so much. But this time I decided to go all with the same fabric and I’m totally loving it!! I think when I get back, I’ll sew there in solid colors with some iron-ons for decor! :P

I also sewed matching blue/denim leggings for the girls but since its just leggins, I didnt bother taking pix.

Rewiring can be such a hassle!

I’ve been thinking about moving some stuff around the house to make my sewing space more comfortable for me and Ted has agree to help with the wiring coz when you have the sewing machine, OL and radio all using the same port, the wires look like Medusa’s head!

So the other day, Ted was explaining to me the plan and how things were going to be and telling me about raceways…and for the life of me, I had no idea what he was going on about!! I didn’t want to stop him midway coz he was so excited about it but when I was truly lost and did stop him, I think he was speechless! lol Poor man must have wanted to just skin me alive. :P

So I told him that I didn’t care how he did things, just as long as all my machines are close to me – that was all that mattered. I don’t know what has happened since we left for Kulim so I am rather excited to go home and see what he’s done. Such a good husband! :D

First Knippie pattern

When I first bought this magazine, I just wanted to try it out for fun (it was also on sale!) and while the patterns are somewhat simple, I hate translating it! I think its in German so I had to translate it to sew it up. While this is a simple pattern to sew, I got sick of it and decided to do away with the bottom snaps. So in the event we need to change nappies, the whole garment will have to come off! lol :P So much for being patient.

I’m not too sure if I wanna try other patterns coz I need to translate it so I guess its either that or to sell it off. Will have to think that through. TFL!

6 in a week

I was so busy the last week coz I was rushing to finish some of the things that I wanted to bring to Kulim and I’m darn glad that I finished all of them!! :) The girls hv lots of new stuff but not the little man though. I didnt hv enough time to make more stuff for him but this time away from home will give me a chance to look for fabric to get and if I am daring enough, try to make some things while I’m here.

Yup, me brought me pattern books along, just a few. :) Well, now you’ll hv to excuse me while I go play catch up with Mum – feels good to be home!! :D

Teaching kids

Just today I posted a pix of Arianna peeling off the inner skin of a local fruit called petai. She spent a good hour sitting down and peeling it WILLINGLY. :) Nothing beats a child who enjoys doing what I’d called a chore but to her, it was fun helping Mum. Arianna is turning 5 next year and I think I should start teaching her to do some of the easy housechores that a child can handle. I think starting her off with this was an excellent idea.

In a forum on FB, loads of mum were complaining and asking about our thoughts on these latest games and gadgets that kids these days are so addicted too like Wii and DS and PS3 (I may have little got all these wrong coz I know nuts about it!) but to see that kids are spending more time in front of the PC/TV is said. As it is, the girls are already watching way too much tv for my liking so I’m trying to figure ways to keep them occupied. I dont want them to get so addicted like my cousins’s kids who pretty much turn into monsters and start mumbling, “find ps3 headset” to themselves when my cousin cleans up the place. It’s really quite a sight!!

So since Arianna enjoyed that bit of peeling, I’m thinking that I should teach her how to fold clothes. At least she can fold all the kids clothes which is the bulk of the laundry. LOL This is what kids are for! :P

Missing my own sewing space

It’s been almost 2 weeks since we got here and I have to say that I have not touched anything that is craft related. I have been (shamelessly) spending my time eating up all the food that I’ve been missing while away and omg, at the rate I am going I might have to purchase another seat on the flight back! Needless to say I’ve chucked my weighing scales away. lol :P

So while I am trying to get my sewjo going again…..my Godma has been kind enough to let me use her Brothers sewing machine while I’m here. I am somewhat excited to try it out coz it certainly has more stitches than my Janome which sucks for me coz I could get used to having so many of those embroidery stitches. Heh. Despite this sewing machine waiting for me to use it, I miss my own sewing space and machines. It’s not the same when you’re using someone elses and in a different place coz its just not the same. I reckon this is one reason why my sewjo’s gone walkabout. *sigh*

Before I left, Ted insisted that I pack away the machines coz he wanted the space where my machines sits to do his stuff – wonder what that’s all about. And being the good husband that he is, he has offered to send my machines in for service so I’ll have to remind him about that in case he forgets. After all once he gets his head into reading up about this RoaylImaging.com document management solutions that he recently found out about, I can say good bye to him doing anything! That’s Ted for you….well, I’m off to see if I can revived this sewjo. Lord knows I need it!
