There is light at the end of my knitting tunnel

YES!! Finally I can see some light at the end of this knitting project that I’ve started this year. :P When Mum was around, I started knitting my own cardigan. It was the first big project that I decided to tackle, thanks to Mum for getting me started. But I’ve since lost interest in it because it’s just way big and I got bored with the pattern hence I decided to start something new to celebrate the new year. :P *Gatai I know!*

Pattern taken from here
The book

I picked something from an old pattern book I bought off a friend called “All You Can Knit and Crochet for Babies”, A Golden Hands Special Edition copy. While I am not sure what the level of difficulty is which isn’t such a bad thing I feel, I seem to be doing ok thus far. I know I’m being over ambitious about this project since my baby gumnut hat was an utter failure despite doing it 3 times! >.< But never say die...I'm still hanging tough here.

I'm doing #9
Anyway, it’s the Garter Stitch Jersey with laced edged yoke and I’m doing it for Brandon in the biggest size in case I don’t finish it in time. Big is always better in my opinion anyway. I’m quite happy with my progress despite my snail-like speed. I rather ensure I’m doing it right the first time than to unpick and be unhappy with the end result. That would suck big time!! So far, I dare say that *touch wood* I’ve only had to unpick 2 rows at the most. And I count every row once I’m done too! :P

Ted told me the other day that if I picked knitting over going to have a shower (as I’m a shower freak – I love to bathe!) coz I was covered in baby vomit, he was scared because I can get overly obssesive if I’m into something. And he is quite right! I can easily forget abour the world around me and just concerntrate if I wanted too. Here’s hoping I didn’t screw up with the choice of yarn. Eeekkss!!

Progress thus far… :P

Busted!

No, I didn’t catch Ted watching p0rn but I did catch the little miss messing around with the laptop last night! Actually, what she was really doing was giving it a new look – she was coloring the top with the brand new crayons we got her for Christmas.

Unlike Arianna, KR seems more interested in drawing although she draws almost everywhere despite our constantly telling her that we only draw on paper. Arianna was so much more obidient in this area. Funny how different kids can be. And because of this interest in art, I was just thinking that perhaps KR has inherited some sort of interest in craft. If this is the case, it would be excellent! Although I am no expert seamstress, I love sewing and all that, and to have someone who shares the same interest would definitely be a good thing. I’ll have to monitor her and see what other things interest her. Imagine this cheeky child sewing on those kiddy sewing machines – so cute! :D

Our year end plans

I know it’s waaaaaaaaay too early to be talking about end of 2011 but I love to plan and if I can get things organised, I feel more at ease with myself knowing that I did my part. And if things ever blew up in my face, I’d have someone else to blame and not me. :P Anyway, seeing that we havent been back to Malaysia for Christmas in 2 years, Ted and I decided that this year will be different. We will be spending Christmas and…..New Year in Kulim! ^.^ To say that I am over the moon about this is an understatement coz I’m sooooooo over it, I’m just high on happy.

I’ve always missed home and thinking that I will be home with family during these festive times is making wish that it was already end of the year! lol Although ours will not be like one of Ariel’s recent Branson vacation packages (she’s got too much money, that woman – she should share!), Ted is planning for a super month long holiday for him. All this time, he is only around for a rushed 2 weeks but this time, he decided that he wants a PROPER long holiday hence, his month long vacation. As for the kids and me, we’ll be there 2 months before he heads out so that 90 days of pure happiness for me! :D

Can’t wait to go fabric shopping again. Heh…and this time, I reckon we’ll be bringing back truckloads of fabric! :D

Happy New Year!

Aaahhh, welcome to the year of the Rabbit!! Well, I know we’re not technically there yet but nonetheless, it is a brand new spanking new year. :) So did we do all day? Well, we did nothing at all! But we sure worked ourselves off on Thursday! During the day, we spent it out starting with Brandon getting his 2mths (Yes, already!!) vaccination shots then we went to Wesfield to sort out some paper work (can you believe it??) like getting Brandon’s bank account up and getting our rebates from Medicare – twas a nice big fat angpow (money packet)! :P I really wanted to go to Lincraft and get some yarn goodies but we didn’t have time coz Ted was rushing to get back to the office and get the office phone as he had on-call duties. Thank goodness for online shopping!! :P

On Friday, Ted was working the whole day but managed to come home early which was good. New Year’s eve had us planing to get pissed drunk, eating crackers with cheese and pate but sadly, didn’t quite work out that way. lol I didn’t like the wine so stuffed myself with the crackers instead. I wasn’t THAT keen to get drunk coz then Brandon would suffer as well. So we allowed the girls to go to bed a tad bit later that night just so they could see the fireworks on tv. It didn’t really get their attention but at least they watched it for at least 5 minutes or less. So much for spending AU5 million on it, Guv’ner!

Then Ted and I stayed up and watch tv and waited to usher in the new year and although I enjoyed the fireworks on tv (as I do every year), I still think it’s too much to spend on fireworks and it way too long! I pretty much lost interest after about 5 minutes myself and those fireworks go on for ever! I know it’s way different to be there in person to take in the whole experience but I doubt I would want to be there, certainly not now with the kids. Perhaps when they are older, we might do it. Even then I think I’d go but under protest. lol :P I don’t like crowds, never did and never will.

Then on New Year’s day, we spent it at MIL’s which was great coz apparently it was a REALLY hot day but we were in the cool, her place is fully air-conditioned! :D So all in all, it was (as always) a quiet new year for us. But next year, it will be different….we will be celebrating Christmas AND New Year back in Malaysia!!

So my countdown to that has already started. ^.^
